Sound Ratings(s): | cultiv8420 Sound Rating There are some old live Rage Against the Machine tracks in here, oddly enough. Starjelly08 Sound Rating Someone made an oopsie. First track = some Rage Against the Machine song I'm not so sure we ever heard? I don't even recall this on there very old bootlegs or demos. Hmm. I could easily be wrong, as I am not an encyclopedia on them near as much as I am on Tool. Track 2 skips ahead/back? to tools set and it appears its just maynard saying that they are about to play maynards dick and its a very "short" song. Get it? It then skips back/forward? to Rage again playing Bombtrack on track 3. Track 4 is Maynards dick. But wait...WHAT?!!!! Is it ACOUSTIC? Yes. In Track 2 maynard even says "Can you hear him? He's never been unplugged before". So yes. Track 4. Is acoustic Tool. With the exception of the Album versions of Disposition and No Quarter and Maynards Dick, I believe thats the only time acoustic Tool has happened. And it is quite literally only acoustic guitar and Maynards voice. Then transitions immediately into one of the only live "Disgustipated" ever performed. There are also sounds in it that are not on the album, it seems, such as slowed down and pitched down voices in the background. Very evil sounding. I wonder if the gunshots were still the ones recorded for the album we saw on Masseys behind the scenes footage of Undertow. One of the most interesting poor quality recordings of Tool out there. Without a DOUBT worthy of a listen despite its borderline awful sound quality. Very muddy. Also interesting is that there is definitely a partly stereo quality to Disgustipated. Im pretty curious about how that came to be and about this show in general. RESEARCH TIME! So glad this exists. If you are the tapers of any of these shows... do not ever feel upset about any harsh critiques of audio quality. It is never, never the wrong thing to do, to record early Tool however possible. Thanks guys. Forever. Track 6 is back to Rage. "Take the Power Back". This whole thing must have been someones personal tape of back and forth songs from the show they attended. People used to do that, i recall. For some odd reason. But surely 30 years from now, people will find whatever we do now odd too. Sorry for rambling. Coronavirus is getting to me. Thank god for this site right now. Track 7 seems to be the same song as Track 1? "At the end of the tunnel" is just about all I can make out. Quality makes it seem like a different show/recording at this point. Not sure whats going on here at this point. Track 8 is back to Tool again, and seems to be the same exact recordings previously appearing on the tape...just together in one track now. With Rage finishing it out with even yet another reprise of "At the end of the tunnel" lol. What a peculiar listen. But still so worth it for acoustic maynards dick and disgustipated. Literally so interesting, Im downloading this near awful quality recording. hodor
Sound Rating Rare mysterious recording of short Tool set opening for Rage. Date and completeness is dubious. Giving it 10 to regress the meanie and cause it is a golden nugget of history! Take Track 8 alone for the Tool set. | |||
